Big names like Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro might be too intuitive and expensive for beginners and occasional users. But simple editors like Windows Movie Maker (Today’s Microsoft Photos) and iMovie are too much basic for most users. What I mean is they are easy to use and still cover common basic editing toolkits , but they are not functional and flexible enough to make stunning content.
There I want to share my collections of free editing software. I use Windows system. But most the remind editors are open-source and cross-platform tool.
Open-source (from easiest to the most difficult)
VLC media player (come with build in editing toolset)
Avidemux (basic)
Openshot (easy like wmm, but more functional)
Shotcut (Best recommend, easy yet robust)

Kdenlive (Better go with Linux)
Blender (3D mould, advanced editing)
Free version of paid brand
VideoPad free video editor (starighforward)
VSDC free video editor ( well designed picture icon)
Cyberlink Powercardio (fast and low CPU reliance)
Hitfilm
Lightworks
DaVinci Resolve 16 ( Extremely powerful, and full featured)
